Prepare yourself, this is going to be long so don't start reading if you don't want to read long, or stop if you get bored. Just thought I would add that since some complain that I write too long. :)
First off, I at least had an absolute blast! I think everyone else had a good time but you will have to ask them if they had as much fun as I did. Haha
Well we started our day off at about 5:45am when the alarm went off although Travis cell phone alarm went off at 5am since he forgot to shut it off the night before.
Melinda arrived at 6:25am to take care of my kids and we left shortly there after to Dad and Mom's to ride with them. Josh and Ana had went Skiing on Friday and then spent the night up in Tahoe for her birthday which was Thursday. So Dad and Mom and Travis and I headed up about 7. Got up there and got all our ski's on and we were ready to hit the slopes. While we were putting our ski's on it started to snow, but nothing significant so I wasn't too worried and just put on my sunglasses rather than wear big ole dorky goggles. Haha
We headed up the lift and got off the same place as the last time I went skiing so I felt all safe and thinking, oh man this won't be bad at all, I know these runs from last time and I can do them all. I fall in behind and follow them but we don't take the same familiar runs, we head over to another lift. Where is this going to take us, I ask? The answer.....To the top. Oh no! But being the brave soul that I am and of course not about to be left behind I get on this lift too. We get to the top and by then it is snowing, like really snowing. Me, mom and Ana all just had our sun glasses on. Mine were fogging up like crazy but if I was moving they unfogged so I thought oh they will be fine. Mom was having the same problem. We start down and curve around and it looks all good. I'm thinking, oh this isn't so bad, I can do this. And then I come around that last bend. I was wondering if I should do like I heard an instructor telling a student up there that was having some fears so to speak. Take my ski's off and walk down this mountain! But of course I wasn't going to be a chicken, I know how to ski, I just don't like falling and this hill looks like a falling hill. So I start down and my glasses are not fogged but it is snowing so hard that I needed windshield wipers and the water didn't come off them like they do goggles. Mom was having the same problem. But I head down the hill and make it fine. We get back to the lift and head up again. Dad decides he will be so nice as to go back down to the car and get our goggles. He didn't know that I had some though so was going to get Ana's for me but by this time she needs hers too so Josh flies after him to catch him and get mine too.
Now when you are at the top of the mountain, its not like, Oh I'm going to run to the car real quick. Its a long way and then coming back up you have to take 2 different lifts to get back to the top. So while we are waiting we decide to go down that run again.
I am feeling alot better about my skills now after making it down all in one piece. So we get to the steep part and I just take it like nothing.
If you have ever been skiing you know the sound of snowboard coming up behind you. I really don't like that sound. They seem more reckless than skiers and I don't like them coming up behind me. Well I am crisscrossing across the hill and I hear the sound, I look back and I see him coming. Now mind you this is only my second run of the day, I'm still trying to get my legs to do what they are supposed to do. So I see this guy snow-bombing toward me and I knew I better get out of the way because he didn't look like he really was in control of that board, so I turn quickly and that was when my face groomed the trail. As I was hurtling down on my face, I heard a couple guys pass and yell "Yard Sale" That means everything was kind of flying all over. Then I hear my mom in the background say "That hurt"
Luckily I had my poles wrapped around my wrist and my ski's set on intermediate so everything stayed attached. Haha
I just got right back up and headed the rest of the way down, as if I did that kind of stuff every day, it was just a practice fall. Ha
Trust me, it didn't feel good. Heading head first down a mountain on your left side of your face. Ugh!
So that was my wreck of the day, got all that over with at the beginning at least. I did fall two more times that day but one time was just because, I don't know why. haha I wasn't even moving, I was standing there sideways on the hill talking to my mom and I can't remember why but I just kind of fell over. LOL When stuff like that happens you just pretend you meant to do that, you were taking a little break. I see people do it all the time. haha
Dad and Josh got back with our goggles and it was so much better that we could all bomb down the hill cool as you please. Well, not as fast as Travis, Josh and Dad of course but my kind of bombing anyways. LOL I even passed Mom and Ana up a couple times although I think I might have been out of control those times and didn't mean too. LOL I know I prayed alot. Jesus take my ski's, take them down this slope, cuz I can't do this on my own. I know I'll be broken if you don't help, like real fast.
People probably thought I was a little demented with all my hooping and whooping and oh noing. LOL But I had Travis to yell encouragment for me and also distraction for me when he said "Hey Babe, Watch this!"
I'm watching my feet, babe. I have to concentrate here, can't ski and look sideways at the same time, my ski's are my focus of the day all day. haha
Later in the day Josh asked if we wanted to go to the Nevada side. Up at Heavenly, part of the mountain is in CA and part in NV. Its a huge mountain and would take all day to ski every run if you could even do it in a day, I'm not sure.
So anyways we headed over there. What he forgot to mention was to get over there you had to take a black diamond run. Didn't I say I don't do diamond runs???? haha
So we go anyways and we had been skiing for awhile now so it was all coming back to me. We get over there and I instantly knew I like CA side much better. The snow was way too deep over on the NV side and deep snow is not cool for me, meaning I don't like it, and I think it might have been snowing harder over there but it was hard to tell.
So after one run, I was ready to head back to CA. Mom sided with me and everyone else didn't seem to care much although I think Travis and Josh would have liked to stay over there for a bit but we all headed back to the CA side and finished the day out.
We ended up heading down to the car about 3. They close at 4 but we were all pretty done by 3, as we had been skiing for 6 hours straight without stopping and with no food all day. Josh and Travis stayed up for a couple more runs and the rest of us headed to the car.
Josh and Travis are the dare devils of the group. They like the terrain parks and all the jumps so they went thier way alot of times so they could go where the jumps were or they would veer off into the trees to jump rocks.
Ana tried stunt skiing when one of her ski's came off while she was skiing and she skied for a bit on one foot. We never did figure out why it came off.
By the time we were home I knew where every muscle in my lower body was located because they were all screaming to me at once. haha
Unfortunately it poured snow all day long. But it wasn't so bad once we got our goggles and could see where we were going even if I couldn't see the terrain all that well, except when we were on the lift I would get a little chilled from just sitting there with the snowing blowing on us. Every time we got off I would have a pile of snow in my lap, that's how hard it was snowing. By about the middle of the day the tracks under the lift were filling pretty good because not as many people ski down those runs as they do the groomed trails.
So anyways we had a wonderful time. Travis and I both want to buy season passes like Josh and Ana do so we can go every week.
And now I can no longer say I don't do diamond runs. All I say now is that I still don't do moguls and I for sure don't do jumps. Travis loves moguls though so I have a feeling before long he will get me in them. He tried to make me take a run that had just a ton of them but no way was I doing that. :)) And Ana said she has tried small jumps so who knows, If I become an all season skier like her I might try one too someday. lol
Here are the only pictures I took. Dad and Mom were using the restroom so we were just standing there waiting and so I grabbed a guy and asked him to take a picture of us.
Its hard to take pictures when skiing, especially when its snowing. You just want to stay moving so you don't get cold and taking the camera out and taking pictures doesn't enter the mind much.
I think Josh took one of Travis taking a jump and my dad took a small video clip of Josh taking a jump.
Wish we would have taken more, to at least have taken a picture of all of us together. I will make a point of it no matter what, next time.

They are better than your short ones.
