Had a great weekend.
Travis got in on Friday night and we went and ate at Red Robin in Reno. Ugh! Shouldn't have done that. We usually don't like to eat when he gets in because he always gets in late but this time we did and someone had barfed in the restaurant so the place smelled like barf very strongly and it was closing time when we got there so the food wasn't all that wonderful although mine was actually pretty tasty. Chili Cheese Fries with extra Cheese. haha
Saturday: Earlier in the week I had bought Monster Jam tickets to surprise the kids. So we went to that at 2pm and the boys loved it. We of course left there dirty from all the dust they put up, I had a layer of dust on my coat and my glasses had a film of dirt on them when we went out. UGH but for the boys it was great. With Grave Digger of course winning, I think he always does although the one female contestant, Medusa she gave him a run for his money and came in second.
After that I had enchiladas ready to go in the oven so Mom, Josh and Ana came over and we had dinner and then played Balderdash and cracked up all night.
It was roll your clock ahead night which meant a very tired Sunday. The roll your time ahead Sunday always makes me more tired, I never go to bed an hour early to make up for it, seems like I get to bed an hour later than I normally would because I stay up the same as I usually would and then have to go forward an hour.
But we were up this morning and ready for church and on time.
Pastor outdid himself today, both services. They were totally awesome. We unfortunately had to leave just as he was finishing up tonight, for me to run Travis to the airport. We stayed at church tonight till the last minute but still got him there 25 minutes before takeoff time and ended up the plane was a little slow deboarding the arriving passengers so he had time to spare even. And then I got back to church while they were still going strong at the Alter and still had another half hour before we were dismissed so I just missed about 25 or 30 minutes of it.
Dallas made Honor Roll. We were very excited about that. He is definitely our smarty, he goes to a special class for math, he and one other student in his class are above the class in math so far that they are sent to a special class for some of their math. It is good that there another boy at his level, he is always telling me how they challenge each other with long division problems and such trying to outdo each other. And I couldn't believe it when he brought homework home a couple weeks ago and it was pre-algebra. EEKS! I don't remember having that till like 7th or 8th grade and I was never good at it so I was glad he didn't ask me for help. Haha His teacher also told me at our last conference that he is at a 6th grade reading level. He takes after me in that respect, the love of math came from Travis and the love of reading from me. :))
This week and last week he is doing CRT testing. It is a state test that is given to 3rd through 8th graders. With 3rd through 5th being tested in Reading and Math. It is a state test that is given each year to see at what level each school comes in for their students. Below I put last years score for the school that Dallas attends. Each school is rated by these test scores on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best. Dallas school rates at a 9, The highest rating in our area. So I am looking forward to seeing what the scores will be this year. I looked at a chart of this school and they have steadily improved each year in their scoring. So I have very high confidence in this school and the staff. I feel like they really care about educating these kids, they are not just there for the money, for a job to pay the bills. It just shows!
Scale: % meeting or exceeding standards
Grade 3Reading 83% (2008) The state average for Reading was 59% in 2008.
Math 77% (2008) The state average for Math was 60% in 2008.
I'm sure your tired of hearing me brag up my child, and I am tired of being awake, its 1:10am. Past my bedtime and we have lunches to make and kids to get off to school bright and early in the morning. Thank God we have sunshine and warm weather to look forward to this week though. Will make the getting up so much easier with the sun shining brightly through the window to wake us up. I hope our winter wetness is over now. I know it is for this week anyways, supposed to reach 68 or more this week. So I am very much looking forward to getting outside without my coat on finally!
