Saturday we had a wonderful day with just us.
Travis flew in that morning and I picked him up at the airport at 8:30am
We headed home and decided to straighten up the yard, everything had started growing. We have a problem with our neighbors trees and shrubs trying to take over our fence so Travis found some type of saw to cut them all down. They grow under the fence and then up, one of them had the meanest thorns in it and they all got poked more than once and would let out a yell. This one Dakota is holding is actually a tree, somehow a seed from the tall one you see in the background came over and we had a tree which would have been nice if it wasn't growing right smack next to the fence, later down the road it would have ended up to big for where it was and then would have been harder to take care of so we eliminated it now.

So for those of you in Washington that are wondering what in the world we are doing with the garbage can I will explain. LOL Where as you would burn your stuff we put ours in the trash can. LOL So here they are sawing each branch smaller so we can fit more. Oh boy Garbage day isn't until Thursday and here it is only Saturday and the garbage is full.

In the midst of all the work dad had to help these city boys. Taught them how to use the saw, I was sure we were going to visit the hospital with a sawed leg or hand before the day was done.
They at one time even got sidetracked and had a tool lesson in the shed learning the name and use of each tool. Sad to say but my children are definitely city boys and were not raised like Trav as a country boy who was probably splitting kindling by the age of 5. haha

They once again got sidetracked when Dad noticed the perfect branch for a slingshot. EEPS! What was he thinking! LOL So he shaved it, and taped it and carved it until they were very impressed, well so then since there are 2 boys they had to come up with something else to so he found a piece of wood that they fashioned into a gun and wouldn't you know just like all kids in the world, homemade toys are so much more fun than bought ones and they just loved them to death.

So after all that hard work we decided to go cool off and relax, so we headed to the lake.

I was convinced they would step one foot in and decide it was too cold because it for sure didn't feel warm enough for swimming to me, I think it was only 77. EEPS But they proved me wrong and swam for 3 hours and even Trav stuck his feet in. They all tried to talk me into it but I was nice and comfy in my chair with my book thank you very much.

They had a blast and were playing navy seal with dad yelling out commands for push ups and in the water and run here, do this, do that. And then what is a trip to the lake without being buried in the sand.

The water actually was pretty cold I think because they were shivering which was why they decided to be buried in the hot sand to warm up. LOL
So we had a fabulous Saturday working on our summer tans and I am so glad summer is finally here, I just hate being cold and summer time I can finally be warm so long as I stay outside, I do have to remember to keep a coat in my trunk for restaurants and church because people get carried away with running A/C units. I'm convinced the Applebee's manager sees me coming and cranks the A/C. Humph... I usually don't use my coat though, I just shiver through it because people always look at me weirdly if I walk in with a coat in the middle of a blazing summer day. LOL

I was sad to see the weekend end because that meant my husband leaving once again. I miss him terribly. I am so looking forward to the day he is home all the time, whenever that may be.
