Well I better get going on the rest of my trip I still have 1 more day to tell you about and then we did fun stuff this last weekend. OH My! I am just behind badly.
So our 3rd day;
Our 3rd day was the best. We got up bright and early from our nice house. I said goodbye to the house and took lots of pictures.
Red had a bad tire on the back and so he went to the shop and we all went to Marie Callender's for breakfast and Travis rode over to the shop where Red and Kayla were and picked up Kayla to come eat breakfast with us. We ate breakfast, I had some great potato skins. haha, I was going to have some french toast or waffle but alas they had no peanut butter and I can not possibly eat either of those things without peanut butter so I had potato skins.
Okay so enough of the breakfast. I am talking to Sarah and Sonia while writing this so if I get off track you can blame it on them.
Okay so we left Oak-dale California and headed for the Red Woods. Fun Fun. We rode through the Red Woods till we came to the main place where Paul Bunyan is with his Ox. If you have been there you will know what I am talking about, if not then you can refer to the pictures that I am so good to post for you. haha just kidding.
So we went there and we walked through the gift shop and then we decided to take the little hike through that you can take up to the sky tram. I have been there before to that place, I believe my Grandparents took Josh and I there when we were kids and then also in 02' Travis and I went there but neither time did we go up the trail. But this time we did, there are lots of cool trees and things to read and stuff, it is 8/10ths of a mile up to the sky tram and can you believe it costs $13.00 per person to go up there. Sheesh that is outrageous. So anyways we go up and stuff and get in line for the sky tram, Dad and Mom and Uncle and Aunt went up first and then Josh and Ana and Us in the second. We took pictures of the people passing us in on the opposite side of the cable going down. There was one that had like 4 kids in it and we were all making faces and doing all we could to try and get them to smile at us but I guess they were not having fun because not one of them even cracked a smile. But we did get some old people to smile at us int he next car that passed us but then some uhhh Chinese or Japanese or Korean or some such they passed and they were talking about us I'm sure but they failed to smile either. My My so as you can imagine we had great fun going up. lol We got to the top and as we were getting out Mom was throwing branches at us and so the operator thought she didn't like us. lol it was great laughs. So we went up to the observation deck and looked around. Josh thought he was too funny to trick Me and then Aunt Debbie by saying did we see something way out when there was nothing and we were straining so hard to see what he was seeing. There was this like nature guy or something, not sure what he was besides gay I think and weird but anyways he has his camera all out and his tripod. We had seen him throughout our walk that day all getting on the ground taking pictures of dust particles on fern leaves or something. haha but anyways so he is up there and he is taking pictures of branches well my mom kept getting in his way and she was not even noticing him but I was watching and he had his camera all out on his tripod and was all focusing and she would move and she had her back to him but I guess he thought she would get his vibes as he would shoo at her with his hands as you would an insect. lol and she was trying to see the thing that Josh was trying to make everyone see that wasn't even there. And so she would move a little and he would get back down to his camera and then she would move again and he would jerk his head up and shoo at her again. It was just too funny but I felt bad for her messing up his dust pictures and so I went and told her I thought she was in his way and annoying him so she may want to move lest he thump her with his camera bag or something. haha
Well so we are ready to go then. And you have 2 options, you can either take the sky tram back down or you can hike down. It is 1 mile and says for experienced hikers only and you must get permission from the sky tram operator so he can determine if you are able to make the hike. Well Travis, Josh, Ana and I we of course are young and we can do it. haha so we tell everyone we are going to take the trail down, don't even stop for permission. lol Mom and them all take pictures and wave goodbye and we set out. The first part of the trail was a piece of cake. There are 6 razor backs I think they are called, or perhaps it is switchbacks. but anyways the first one, we are all like " aw man we can do this no problem" The second one I am thinking wow this is really steep. By the 3rd one my knees are twitching all over and I am thinking I wish it was snow and I had an inner tube. lol So we are half way and it starts going up hill and we are surrounded by trees and there are some people behind us somewhere but no one in the near vicinity and so I yell for my mama to come get me I am tired. Well to my surprise she answers. Travis and Josh are like " no that is not her, they took the tram down" So me and Ana yell for Cyndi and she answers again, so we yell is Aunt Debbie with her and she says yes and we are like oh my word. How are they going to make it. Our knees are wobbling like crazy and it is so hot from our exertion I at least felt like I could do with a lot less clothing and some major cold water. lol So Josh loves to scare people, it is what he lives for I think so he convinces Travis to hide in a tree with him to wait for the rest so they can jump out and scare them half to death. So Ana and I keep going. We finally get to the bottom and sit on the fence for what seems like forever, finally Travis and Josh come out of the trees. They said they did not scare them because by the time Uncle came around the bend they were afraid for their lives if they had scared him as he was quite mad at himself for going down that way and he just might have taken off their heads. lol So we headed out, back down the main trail and by this time I of course Miss Peabody herself had to use the bathroom so I put it in high gear while Ana and the boys were taking pictures along the way, there was still that 8/10ths of a mile to get out to the gift shop.
I finally made it and would you believe this place did not have any cold water, they had warm bottled water you could buy for 1.75 but no cold water, can you imagine spending 1.75 for warm water. My word that is outrageous. And the next town is 16 miles down the road. So anyways I get to the bottom and then wait around for them, pretty soon they got there and then low and behold Aunt Debbie comes rushing around the corner. I am like how in the world did you get here so fast, she is like me and had to use the bathroom. How a persons body can move when they have something important to do. hahahah So we all decide to head out of there and get to that next town so we can get something to drink. It was not too hot so we were okay till then and all got some water.
We then decided to go to the beach as that was the last of the beach because we were getting on a different highway after that and leaving the coast and heading to Grant's Pass. So we headed down to the beach. Red and Kayla had caught up with us by then, they hadn't been with us much that day as they had been stopping at other places along the way for pictures and other hiking they did. So we went down to the beach and took some group pictures, Uncle Harland and Josh thought they would go wave jumping and got stuck out in the water and got their feet wet. It was funny to see them running back away from the waves. Josh and Ana went searching for dead crabs. They like them I think, haha. they like making others smell them anyways.
After that we headed out and got to Grant's Pass and barely got a motel, stopped at 1 and they were booked so went to another and luckily they had 5 rooms left so we took 3. Josh, Ana, Travis and I went to a Mexican Restaurant we had seen when driving through town and the rest of them went to Elmer's. It was one of the best Mexican restaurants I have eaten at.
So then we all went back to the motel, Kayla is a masseuse so she came and gave us all massages. Then began the long night. Travis fell asleep before anyone so then we are all ready for bed and I get in bed and Uncle turns out the lights and I am lying there and I feel something crawl on my wrist, so I brush it off thinking it is just my imagination but just in case it was not feel around by where my hand was and feel something so I make myself not panic and brush it off the bed. Then I start feeling things on my legs and I am just like okay this is my imagination but then I feel something crawl on my other wrist and I vigorously brush the bed and myself and by then I am freaked out. So I get up in the dark and go feel around for my hoodie and some long socks of Travis' and put the socks on, zip the hoodie and pull the hood over my head and cinch it tight and get on top of the covers. Well that wouldn't have been so bad but it was hot out and so the A/C was on and I had picked the bed right next to the A/C because I like sleeping next to the A/C, I like the air to be cold when I am sleeping and so does everyone else in our room but I like the air to be cold while my body is nice and warm and cozy under the covers, but just because I am feeling bugs obviously no one else is because by this time Uncle Harland is sawing the logs of the entire Red Wood forest and he is working overtime. haha So all night I shiver all in a ball because I am too freaked to get under the covers. So I did not sleep that night. Travis said he was irritated with me because I was on top of the covers and so he couldn't move because I had him pinned under the covers. lol He says he never felt any bugs but my mind was convinced there were so I slept better on top of the covers freezing than I would have under. lol
So now we are at Sunday morning, our day to ride home. :( Red and Kayla wanted an early start so they left and headed to Denver and then home to Louisiana. The rest of us went over to Elmer's and ate some breakfast. They had Peanut Butter. YAY so I was able to eat some very yummy thick french toast, makes me want some now to think about it.lol We all ate and then said goodbye to Uncle Harland and he hit I-5 North and we hit I-5 South. We were going to go to Klamath Falls and go home that way, would have taken us about 5 hours but we decided we had all day so why not just take I-5 to I-80 and go to Old Sacramento. So we headed out. Well we had been trucking along making some awesome time when Josh heard some funny noises on his bike so we pulled over and for some reason it was out of oil. So we didn't dare chance going any farther so Dad and Mom went to look for a station where they could buy some oil to bring back to us. It is very hot by now, in the 90's somewhere, we found a tree to stand under for some shade, we just happened to be at a place on I-5 where there wasn't much around. So we figured they would have to ride a ways before they found something. So they were riding along and this guy passes them and is driving in front of them a ways and mom sees a sign that says there is some lodge on the next exit so tells my dad to take that and see if perhaps there is a station there. So they get off and as they are going up the ramp the guy that had passed them in his car had a blow out and spun all over the freeway as rubber goes around and it is all right where they would have been had they not gotten off that exit, turns out there was nothing there and they had to get back on the freeway and go down farther looking for a station. They finally came to one about 10 miles down and came back with water for us and the oil. It was the grace of God that we were all spared. The bike had not been leaking oil and has never burnt totally out of oil like that, was not due for oil change or nothing. So we know it was God watching over us all from that guy that had a blow out and we would have all been there and then he took Dad and Mom off that exit just in time. Thank You Jesus.
So then we are back on the road. We are going good again when it starts getting hotter and hotter, it was so hot my water I had in the water bottle was as hot as bath water and I was so hot and thirsty I didn't care and was drinking it. but then it was gone and I quit sweating and I thought for sure I was going to be sick and so I began to pray that my dad would stop. Finally he did get off and we stopped at a ice cream place, I was so hot I barely had the strength to get off the bike and my legs felt like jello, I got off and went straight inside to a bathroom and just leaned over the sink with my head in the water. I have never been so hot in my life. I had had sandals on and my feet were fried and my face was fried, Ana came in and said she was feeling sick to, the rest of them were all out eating ice cream. All I could do was eat ice and some lemonade and water. So we sat there for about 30 minutes then on the road again. I put my boots on this time and we left and it wasn't so bad since I had a nice big cup of ice which proceeded to melt very quickly, my dad said it was upwards of 102 degrees and then we were on that blacktop freeway amongst tons of traffic so I'm sure was hotter than that so anyways, going to Sacramento ended up being more out of the way than we had thought and with our side stop and the extra stops we had to make because of the heat we ended up not getting there will like 7 and so we just stopped and ate and headed home. Then we had to go over Donner Pass and that was freezing cold. But we made it home safe and sound and yes we had a blast.
So that was our road trip, I hope you enjoyed my narration of it. LOL
