Day 2 of our Road Trip

On our second day we got up and it was a mostly just riding day to make up time as we had 1500 miles to go in 4 days and so you have to make a certain amount of miles if you plan to get home when you are supposed to. We were down on Hwy. 101 by then I think and so riding along the trees, we didn't make the coast till that evening though but we did some riding. Toward the end of the day we all kind of got separated. Josh and Ana and Us were in the lead and we were probably 15 to 20 minutes ahead of everyone. So we are all trucking along Travis and Josh taking turns leading. We had to go to the bathroom but didn't want to stop because then then rest would pass us up, which wouldn't have been a problem because we could have caught them but we just wanted to keep our lead.lol
We are riding along when all of a sudden it just hit us from out of no where. The cold, the wet. Josh wanted to know did we take a wrong turn somewhere and go to Washington on accident, haha. But no We had only reached the ocean. It had been over 2 years since we had seen the ocean, longer for Josh and even longer for Ana. It was cold and there was a heavy mist to where it was getting our windshield wet. We make it into Eureka then and stop at the Best Western to wait for Daddy and the rest of them. I would have went in to get a room but my mom can always get things way cheaper than I can and so we texted her and said where we were and we would wait for them. They finally get there about 20 or 25 minutes later and she goes in and none of had thought but that day was the 4th of July and alas we had no reservations and there were no rooms in town. So Kayla and Red said they had seen a mom and pop motel a ways back, they would go check it out and see if they had rooms. So they went back and then pretty soon here comes Red, Yep they have rooms. So we all ride over there and pull in and I can only say that my feelings were kind of just scared that I would be the only one thinking "Oh NO" Red and Kayla have already gotten a room. Mom and Aunt Debbie go look in one of the windows of this hotel that looks like the Pink Flamingo that was built in 1967. Before going over there my mom had called around and found one hotel that had rooms for $125 each but each room only had 1 bed and so we would all have to get our own room and we had all been rooming together to split the cost. So Aunt Debbie and Mom go look in a window and Aunt Debbie backs away saying she is okay with spending $125 for her own room at the other place. lol I am not even getting off the bike, just sitting there praying they say no and Josh said he was going to find a Wal-Mart and buy him a sleeping bag and just sleep with the motorcycle. Red says he is tired and he is staying there. So he has this GPS and it lists hotels so we get on that and Josh and me and Mom start calling every number there is. Mom finds this Victorian house that we can rent and we can all stay in the house, it is down on the Marina. So she tells them to hold it and we will be there in 15 minutes. So as I am thanking God, they are telling Red and Kayla we will meet them for dinner once we get in our room and drop our stuff off. So we get over there and it is this nice old Victorian house and we all come driving up in our do-rags and leather jackets and loud bikes and park right out front. :) Mom goes in and says the family is here, they come out and look at us and say you said it was your family that you were renting the house for. They don't believe her much when she says that yes it is her family, Husband, 2 kids plus spouse and brother and spouse. hmmm they say well that house sleeps 4, not 8. Mom says oh it is okay, we will all fit, no worries. So they say, can they call around and find us somewhere else to stay. Mom says that no this will be perfect for us. So as they warily ease around us to take mom over to the house to look at it, they tell her well does she know that it is a 4 story house and there will be people staying above us and on the floor below us so we cannot party all night and be loud. Mom says oh we won't, we have been riding all day and we are tired so we are just going to bed, plus we are not like that. So then they ask "well are you all clean?" mom says that no actually we have been riding all day so we all need a shower, that is why we need a room, to get clean. " No, do you choose to be clean?" says the man, mom says well ummm do you mean as in my body or are we talking something else? The man says " well see I choose to be clean, I do not chew or smoke or do drugs" ohhhhhh says mom, most definitely, we don't even cuss. He unbelievingly looks at her and very reluctantly rents the house to us. So we all get our luggage and as they are peeking out the window we march over there to the house while leaving Josh and Travis to guard the bikes as there was a retarded looking guy that had been staring at us too and starting walking toward the bikes as soon as we started walking off.
So we go take our luggage up. It is a house with a basement level that some were staying in, then the first level had a huge dinning room, living room, bathroom and some other doors we did not venture in and then up some stairs was our very large kitchen and 2 bedrooms and a dressing room and a bathroom. there were another set of stairs and there were some others staying up there so we did not venture up those. It was a very clean and nice house. So Uncle Harland and Aunt Debbie got the one room with the double bed and there was a couch in there where Travis slept. Mom and Dad got the next room with the queen bed and there was this little narrow couch in the nook of 4 windows and so we turned that around against the wall so I wouldn't fall off and that was my bed. In the dressing room Ana got all the blankets she could find and made her and Josh a nice pallet on the floor.
So then we called Kayla and we met them at Applebee's and we all ate then back to our nice house and showers and bed. I think it was the best place we stayed, wish we could have stayed there the whole time. lol Josh and Ana said they got cold though. In the bathroom there was a large jacuzzi tub and a 2 man shower, coolest shower ever. I always said a shower should have 2 nozzles and now I say for sure if I ever build a house or have my own house I will do it as that is just way cool. No cold spots in the shower.
So that was our day 2, it was all quite fun. And we probably left that room cleaner than any others that had stayed in it. Us big bad bikers.lol
