Good Preaching

Bro. White preached tonight.
It was so very good, I just love his preaching.
He preached about Joab: You know, I thought I knew who Joab was, but before tonight I guess I never really thought of him. If you would have asked me yesterday who what Joab and what did he do I would shamefully have to say I didn't really know. I guess that is so with alot of the people in the bible, you know, I have heard of them all my life and I know all the names of them but to tell you what each and every one of them were known for I wouldn't always be able to say, sadly.
But anyways he preached tonight about, not second guessing God's anointed. The second guessers always either say, "well he's too soft, or he's too hard, or he's playing favorites.
Tonight he brought out the whole story of Joab. How he was a great army commander, the commanding general. He was a very giving man to the house of the Lord. He gave alot, in money, and time. The house of the Lord meant everything to him, but he didn't feel the same of the man of the Lord. (Which was David) He brought out how he said David was too soft because he made a compact with Abner, Then Joab came to the king, and said, "What hast thou done? behold, Abner came unto thee; why is it that thou hast sent him away, and he is quite gone?
Thou knowest Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou doest."

Then later he said David was too hard concerning Absalom, The king said, Let him turn to his own house, and let him not see my face. So Absalom returned to his own house, and saw not the king's face. So Absalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem, and saw not the king's face.
Then he later said that David played favorites when Absalom was killed and David mourned, said "In that thou lovest thine enemies, and hatest thy friends. For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well."
In the end Joab was killed: Joab fled unto the tabernacle of the LORD, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
And Benaiah came to the tabernacle of the LORD, and said unto him, Thus saith the king, Come forth. And he said, Nay; but I will die here.
And Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, Thus said Joab, and thus he answered me.
And the king said unto him, Do as he hath said, and fall upon him, and bury him; that thou mayest take away the innocent blood, which Joab shed, from me, and from the house of my father.

So Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up, and fell upon him, and slew him: and he was buried in his own house in the wilderness.

I have condensed the message alot and I know I have not done it justice but I just wanted to share the basics of it. It interested me much. You would have had to have been there to get the full meaning of it I'm sure and for it to be able to touch you as it touched me.

I have been in church all my life and I do know all the stories in the bible, I have read it many times but I guess lately it has become a little different to me and I am seeing things that either I just didn't see before or just didn't pay attention to.
I walk every day almost 5 miles and so have alot of time in which I am doing nothing but walking, as when you are walking that far it takes a bit of time to get back home. My mom bought us dramatized bible on CD and I transferred as much of them as I could to my ipod which was the new testament for now, as that is all that will fit, once I listen to all the new testament I will replace that with the old testament. But anyways so I listen to that while I am walking, and I am finding things out by listening to that and then messages like tonight, just things that I guess I have heard before or even read but never really took them in if I could put it that way.
But anyways here I am getting long winded again. Guess I can not berate Travis too much on preaching to long if I am going to write so much like this. haha

Sorry if I have bored you, but I just felt like writing about it all, it is of course a free country and I know you read whatever interested you which is the beauty of a blog and you being a free person. haha

GoodNight!

Naya - you did that awesome! His message was great. AT first, I couldn't tell where he was going, or what he was talking about...lol. (and come to find out... i wasn't the only one...) but when he tied it all together, it was great. And i must add in here, that it went perfect with sunday morning's message. (for those that dont know... Pastor was talking about obeying those with the rule over you...) And i think you did an awesome job in summarizing his great message!
love you!

It is so amazing that the stories we read become more clear as we grow and change. It is as though the we learn more as we are ready to accept....Does that make sense.
