We had a good weekend
Grandpa and Grandma surprised us and came for the 4th.
On Friday night Dad and Trav got home and we BBQ-ed at Dad and Mom's house.
Saturday we went up to Tahoe. Dad and Mom and Me and Trav rode the bikes and Josh, Ana, Zaylee, the boys and Gramps and Gram rode in the car. We rode up there and then walked down to the lake and the boys went swimming.
Sunday we had one service and after church we ate and then the guys played basketball all day and the girls played volleyball with the sprinkler over the court (UGH!) and then the girls played a game of basketball. We stayed at the church till about 6:30ish and then went home and cleaned up and went over to mom's where we found Gramps and Gram babysitting Zaylee as the others had went riding.
Monday Gramps, Gram, Dad, Mom and us went to the Automobile Museum. I have been there once before with mom but none of the rest had been there. It's pretty neat.
Then we went and did some things and then over to the parents.
Trav made some salsa. He made it in my mom's blender/food processor and now he wants one. lol Dad made french fries and grilled steaks and corn on the cob. We had a good dinner and then Trav, the boys and I went down town Sparks where we go every year to watch the fire works at the Nugget. We got some front and center seats and barely got there in time but enjoyed that and then we went home.
Today we got up and Trav started edging the front yard but I bought a cheap, stupid, junkie, aggravating, hmmmm can't think what other words I could use to describe it, weed-eater/edger. LOL I bought the cheapest one!!! Bad idea I guess. I edged the back yard last week but it did take me all day because you go like 2 inches and the string breaks and you have to pull it back out then do it again so it is rather aggravating but I've never done it with one where you just zip down the edge like Trav has and so I don't know the difference and can deal with the aggravation more I guess. So either I will finish the front yard or else I will go buy a more expensive one that might do the job better.
So anyways I convinced him to give it up and then find out that he had told the boys we would go dirt biking. Now I do like dirt biking but its 10:30am and its 81 degrees already, by the time we get everything together and loaded and get out to the middle of the desert it's going to be close to 100 degrees and sweating is not my favorite thing to do but being the nice and loving and good mom that I am rather than disappoint the boys who already had thier hopes up and their biking clothes on I said ok fine we will go but just know, I am not at all excited about this.
So we load up, go get Gatorade, Ice, and some lunch through the Burger King drive thru and head out to the open country.
We get out there and it is now 91 degrees. I just can't wait to stick my feet in those big boots and my head in that nice helmet.
We unload and head out. I think we had gone a mile maybe and Coda asked could we go home now. HA Nope we are staying out here for at least an hour. So we putter around in the deserted desert since we are the only ding dong parents that would let our kids talk us into going out in the desert and overheating ourselves. I figured I shoulda lost about 5 lbs with all the sweating. Just SICK! But anyways if I did I gained it all back at dinner.
After 1 hour we were officially done and then it was time to load up the bikes but poor dad his bike kept dying and then he has to do all the loading and unloading so he was so overheated and tired that it took us awhile to work up enough muscles to get everything loaded back up. So we have learned our lesson, we will not go riding in that kind of heat again, I will not be the nice mom any more on that score.
Now it has cooled down nicely and I have all my bedroom windows open and the fan going. The only drawback to that is there is a poor single cricket that has been looking for a girlfriend every night since summer began and unfortunately he is having no luck because he won't shut up. Look up why a cricket makes its noise some time and then you will understand. Anyways its annoying but open windows save money, they also let alot of dust in too which is almost as annoying as this cricket!
So that is the quick version of my weekend. Pretty busy and wonderful just spending time with Trav. Although today was just a quiet day knowing the hours were passing too swiftly and nothing we could do to stop the clock.
Tomorrow we have Eye Dr appointments for Dallas and I. We both need updated prescriptions and then I have to try and get Coda into a Dr. for some rash he has all over, but mostly on his face. I looked online and picked a pediatrician like I would pick a hotel. LOL The one that had the most good reviews, since none of us have a Dr. So hopefully this Dr. I have chosen will get him in and actually know what this stuff is and not just start guessing and wasting my money like alot of Dr's do. I just dislike going to the Dr. or taking my kids to the Dr. The last time I visited one was when Coda was born, I think I might have skipped that if I though I could have done it on my own. lol JK
Well I better get off the computer, the boys are acting like girls right now. We have discovered about 5 spiders tonight we had to eliminate and they are jumping around like girls, Coda in particular, although I must say I kinda acted like a girl when I went to pick up one with some toilet paper and it crawled on top of the paper before I could squish it and almost on my hand before I could get rid of it. LOL. I don't know what the deal is with the spiders, the heat I guess, been hitting 100 or just under every day this weekend. BTW I'm lovin that, not complaining!!!!!! But anyways I need to get the little plug in thingys my mom has to get rid of them, finding spiders is almost as annoying as this cricket that has now found himself a mic I do believe............
Goodnight to all and I hope you have a wonderful and prosperous week.........
