7 more days!
Tonight we have revival. Have to leave early so we can drop a vehicle at the airport for Dad and Trav when they get in, that way mom nor I miss church.
Zaylee is just getting big so fast. I wonder how it is that children just grow up so fast.
She is starting take some steps now and she is just busy as can be.
The boys only have 5 more weeks left of school and then they are out of the 2011/2012 year.
July 9th they will start thier 2012/2013 year with Dallas going in his last year of Elementary School into the 6th grade :-( And Coda will be starting the 4th grade.
Next week they will be starting big testing week. It is state testing so Coda has been going to extra classes after school to prepare for that, Dallas is one of those children that doesn't have to put forth much effort and passes just fine. I wish school would have been that easy for me!!! :-p
He is always great pals with his teacher and of course has many friends. We love his current teacher Mrs. Guevin, she does a fabulous job with the kids and takes a very active roll in teaching them, you can just really tell that she loves her job and is not just there because she must work.
The boys were disappointed, Dallas especially, that we did not get to switch to yellow track this next school year. He was hoping to switch from blue to yellow because his first grade teacher now teaches 6th grade, and we just loved her to death and she taught both Dallas and Dakota and so Dallas really wanted to have her as a teacher again but alas we were left on blue track, that is what comes of being on a variance as we are, we don't get priority. :( But Dallas is always very encouraging and told Coda that being on Blue track he is going to get a nice teacher as he knows the blue track 4th grade teacher. Dallas said he wasn't sure who the blue track 6th grade teacher is but that he thought it was a male teacher. So we shall see, if it is that will be a change as the boys have never had a male teacher before.
Going into 6th Grade Dallas has already had to choose if he will do band, strings or choir. His piano teacher wanted him to do Choir but he was adamant that that was not an option.LOL I suppose that's not manly maybe? Haha so anyways he has talked his dad into letting him do band. How we are going to swing band plus piano I'm not sure but if he is passionate about both then I have no doubt he will succeed so we are on the hunt to buy a saxophone, he has 2 cousins that play saxophone, Austin Clark and Shannon Burgess and so has decided he would like to try that. I think with him being able to read sheet music for piano it will give him a kind of head start with the sax as it is slightly similar. And so he will be juggling 2 instruments this next school year, but his piano teacher said we will just flow with it and balance the 2, and Dallas is very excited about both, he does love to play and is constantly sitting down at the piano and trying out new songs.
Dakota is also in piano lessons but I'm afraid it won't last much longer, he is so passionate about playing the drums that the piano is just boring to him. He always has some choir song blaring on his stereo and playing the drums along with it, and if there is a part he things he isn't getting properly then he plays that part of the song over and over until I just go crazy with the noise and make him put the headphones on. LOL But his piano teacher is trying to make it fun for him and has been trying to change things up trying to get his interest, I really would like for him to be able to play both the piano and the drums so we will persevere just a little while longer and see if we can't catch his interest.
I am always amazed that I have 2 children so vastly different.
One would think that Zaylee was Coda's sister the way he adores her and she adores him. I know Coda is looking forward to Zaylee staying at his house for a week and a half. He will probably be a big help to Anabel while they are here.
Well I have to run get ready for church.
Have a wonderful weekend!
